After Apple's MacBook Neo set the bar high for the entire market earlier this year, competitors rushed to release affordable laptops that don't look cheap. Following the Dell XPS 13, HP entered the arena with its flashy OmniBook 5.
The new device features a 14-inch OLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. Its maximum brightness is only 300 nits, which can make the screen appear dim in direct sunlight. A sharper 2.5K panel is also available. The lid opens 180 degrees.
The base model of the OmniBook 5 is equipped with an Intel Core 5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. The OmniBook series is traditionally renowned for its battery life, and the new model is no exception: in our local video playback tests, the laptop lasted an impressive 42 hours. This significantly exceeds the MacBook Neo's approximately 16 hours.
The interface suite includes two USB-C ports with fast charging and video output, as well as HDMI and a headphone jack. A webcam with an IR sensor and a pair of microphones complete the package. A backlit keyboard is also worth mentioning.
The HP OmniBook 5 14 AI PC will go on sale in October. The base version will cost $700 (approximately 58,700 rubles), the same price as the Apple MacBook Neo at launch.
