Google is transforming its Chrome browser into a personal assistant with more Gemini features, such as a new side panel, agentic browsing, and integrations with Gmail and Calendar.
Google is integrating Gemini more deeply into Chrome for Windows, macOS, and Chromebook Plus. With a new side panel, agentic browsing via auto browse, and links to Google apps like Gmail and Calendar, Google aims to transform the browser into a personal assistant.
The tech giant has announced a revamped Gemini integration in Chrome, built on Gemini 3. The update centers around a new side panel that remains available regardless of which tab you have open. This allows you to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without interrupting your main work.
Gemini in Chrome also supports integrations with Gmail, Calendar, YouTube, Maps, Google Shopping, and Google Flights. This allows Gemini to look up an old email with event details, compare flights, and then draft a message for colleagues. Chrome will also support the Universal Commerce Protocol, an open standard for agentic commerce co-developed with Shopify, Etsy, Wayfair, and Target.

Through the new side panel, Gemini can summarize product reviews, compare options across multiple tabs, or schedule appointments. Additionally, Google is bringing the Nano Banana image editing feature to Chrome. Users can modify images directly in the browser via a prompt in the side panel, without having to download or re-upload them.Auto browse and connected apps
For AI Pro and Ultra subscribers, Google is introducing auto browse, an agentic feature that independently handles multi-step processes. This feature is currently only available in the US. Examples include comparing hotel and flight prices, filling out forms, or managing subscriptions.
